Grandma's Visit

Grandma Marta came to visit and we had so much fun with her. Vila (the 2 yr old I babysit) started calling her Grandma right away :).

We tried to get some pictures of her with the boys (yes I tried to coordinate outfits, i couldn't help it).

H was a little stinker, G was very cooperative. I think the promise of a treat helped. They turned out pretty cute. We love you Grandma!!

Planting

Here we are planting some seeds that will hopefully make it to our garden. G is very excited about growing things this year, in part because of a particular 'Curious George' episode. My hope is that this involvement will lead to more exciting adventures like actually eating foods...

Driving

Boys start pretty early with the whole 'car thing'. At least that's been my experience. You'd think for someone H's age, this car would be enough:



But it's not...

9 Month's Old

This picture is not what you'd call 'current'. It was taken by my brother in law, Terral, at Christmas time. I've just recently come into possession of it though, so I wanted to share. Plus, I didn't really have a good one of H at 9 months, he's hard to pin down now :


He has gotten REALLY mobile. he has a funny scoot/crawl and is pulling himself to a standing position every chance he gets. He is very very fast at getting across the room, especially if he sees food. He won't eat baby food if he sees us eating something else, he wants what we have. He still doesn't have any teeth, but he sure eats a variety of things. He loves vegetables: carrots, peas, green beans, black beans, pork and beans, avocados, any kind of cheese, noodles, bread. Oh, and he goes crazy if he sees me eating chocolate and I don't share. He is now 27.8 in tall and 17.6 lbs heavy. He is such a cute boy and he sure makes us smile. Except when he decides he won't sleep. We are struggling with that just a bit these days.

A Good Day for Kyle

Kyle had a couple of days this week where there wasn't enough work for him to go down to Delta. He sure packed a lot of fun into them and we sure loved having him home.
G has always loved wrestling with Dad. H is just starting to figure out how much fun it can be.
He built some shelves down in our basement storage room so that we'll actually have a place to put food storage!
We are going to try to expand our garden this year. We didn't really have a great spot in the yard for that...so he just made one. (Don't you just love his cheesy lumberjack pose). I love that I have a husband who is so willing to take motivation from our "What if we did this..." conversations and will just go out and make it happen. Honey, You are the Man!

Funnies Today

G really likes to play in the pillows on our bed. One day I walked in and found this balloon waiting to greet me.

This morning K and I were in the living room and I hear G yell out, "Everybody come here, Quick!" We walked into the bedroom and found him laying on our bed with his head under the pillows but his body in full view. I could tell he was holding still and being quiet waiting for us to 'find' him so we looked all over the room. Eventually he popped up and said, "Here I am!" This is one of his favorite games. He is usually better about hiding his whole body though :).

G woke up this morning with a bit of a stuffy nose. "There's a whistle in my nose." he told me.

Later he was carrying around a little bag I have that has some lotions in it. This was his comment, "It's my handbag...no wait...it's my kid bag." He also tried to convince K that make-up was for dads AND moms. K is still of the opinion that it is not.
This is just a picture of G and one of his favorite past times.

St. Paddy's Day Fun

Knowing what a sucker I am for free things means you shouldn't be surprised that we took advantage of free day at the Discovery Gateway Musem. It happened to fall on St. Patrick's Day so we all went in our Green. I was silly and forgot my camera so all of these pictures are courtesy of the friends that came with us. We enjoyed the Ball Machine:
It was kind of hard to get a good pic of G on this. He was up down and all around. This particular attraction was a favorite of all three of the older boys.

Water Water Everywhere
We had been to the museum before, but neither of the other families had, so I spent some time with the babies in the little duck pond so the other mommies could enjoy watching the older boys experiend. They also 'tried' to keep an eye on G for me.
Oh, and apperantly...there is an upstairs. I know I sound stupid, but I honestly never moved beyond that first floor. I think it will be a couple of years before G really appreciates everything that's up there, but it was sure fun for me to discover it was there!

Boys Splashin'

I just love how intensly H splashes in this video. Tonight I was holding him in the livingroom and K was filling up the tub for bathtime. As soon as H heard the water turn on he twisted out of my arms and did his scoot/crawl over to the bathroom as fast as he could. This is one kid who loves his bath!

First thing this morning

I came out to find G laying on the couch. I lay down next to him and we had the following conversation:

"Good Morning! How was your night?"

"Good"

"What did you dream about?"

"A hot girl."

"What?"

"A hot girl."

"Who was this hot girl?"

"Like Ariel."

"Oh. Okay."

A few little G tidbits:

:This is how G asks if a word starts with a certain letter:
Does S start with snake? Does L start with Lemonade? B starts with boy.

:The other day I had a babysitter come so I could attend my Bunco group. G was having a really hard time with me leaving so I told Dallas she could give him a candy corn after I left. After I had gone, he held out his hand and when she gave him the candy he looked up at her and said, "I think Sarah loves me."

:We've moved on from Duck Tales. He is now almost compeltely obsessed with 'Animaniacs' He often tells me that he is Yakko, K is Wakko and I am Dot. Or, He is Yakko, Kage is Wakko, and Chinny is Dot. He wakes up in the morning and tells me that he dreamed about Animaniacs.

I'm not the only one

When I started my puzzle, G decided that he must do a puzzle too. He wanted to 'help' me with mine, but I thought he better start off on something a little more on his level.
He did a really good job and did most of the puzzle himself, with only a few nudges in the right direction.

Speaking of puzzles...yes I finished it! sort of. It was pretty hard to keep a curious 3 year olds hands away from such a tempting morsel all week. I think he must have 'helped' me when I wasn't looking, because I'm missing ONE piece! I may find it around here one of these days, but for now it is time to pack the puzzle up an move on to something else.

Speaking of new skills

One of H's new skills is movement. This has improved dramatically over the last week. He used to comando crawl once or twice, then just be frustrated and cry. Now we put him down in the living room and he scoots all the way across it and comes to find us in the kitchen :). He does like to see what is going on. We had some friends over for dinner tonight and they even commented on how they could see he had improved just from when they showed up to when they left. He is also becoming very vocal and likes to 'talk' to me...very loudly.

The reason I haven't been blogging...

All of my free time has been spent on this puzzle. Whenever I get a minute I run over to find a piece. Sometimes, I am looking longingly at it while I am busy doing other things. And yes, I have stayed up way too late 3 nights in a row so I could work on it without kid interruptions. I'm close to getting finished though, and K will be home this weekend so expect a BIG blog catch-up soon.

I'm seeing a trend

I think G just really likes to be in boxes. I wonder if I should be worried...

My Baby

I just had to share this picture of H. He has such a sweet face and his smiles just makes me smile back. He is a very loving baby (especially to mama) and will give good hugs and kisses. Now that he's starting to go to bed at a decent hour we are more able to enjoy them :).

What friends do.

What do you do when you have a friend come over to play? Well, sit in a box of balls and watch a show of course!!

New Skills

H has been gaining new skills by the second it seems. Here are some cute pics showing off his 'standing' capabilities.

Letter U

This week for preschool, we had the letter U. We started out with finding our U words Under the table and putting them on the Umbrella

We colored a cute story book that featured Uncle U and Unique U words and read a story about Underwear.

I found some glasses at the dollar store that I like to call 'Ukulele Glasses'. Because it fits the theme, ok?

Draper Temple Open House

We decided we wanted to take G to see the Draper Temple Open House. We talked about it for a few weeks beforehand and he seemed really excited to go. We were originally going to go on Valentines Day, but ended up going to my Aunt Kim's funeral instead. Luckily, it is not that hard to get tickets to go and we're local, so it wasn't a big deal to rearrage days.

We dropped H off at one of my friends houses so we could really focus on G and our little 'field trip'. We started off at a church house and saw a short video on temples. Then we boarded a bus to take us up the hill. This could have been G's favorite part of the day.

K had to stand because the bus was very crowded.

When we got there we went through a tunnel of tents to get to the temple. I was really impressed by how organized everything was and grateful for the tents because it was a cold windy day. The long tunnel of tents led us down to enter by the baptistry where we looked at it through some big glass windows. G was happy to stop and look at the 'pool' but that is pretty much the last time he stopped. We had given him his own pamphlet and he felt like it was a map and he was on a treasure hunt. They had plastic mats on the floor that protected the carpet and guided you through the temple and he pretty much ran the entire way. I don't know that he saw much other than the mats. We had to keep calling him back cause he would bump into people (looking at the floor while he ran) and get too far ahead of us. We did stop him in the Celestial Room and I carried him and pointed out the beautiful chandeliers. He said, "Look at all the sprinkles!"

Afterward, we went to another church where they had a reception area with displays and cookies and water.

We were very glad to have the opportunity to see this beautiful temple. It was a fast tour, but K and I figured that this time was for G and we can go and take our time enjoying it after it is dedicated. I feel so very blessed to live in an area that has so many temples close by. I hope we can raise our boys to really love and cherish the temple.
