We had a kind of rough evening yesterday. While we were trying to run some errands the boys were being very disobedient and uncooperative. There was some crying and tantrum throwing, and the kids weren't doing too well either. When we were finally home for the evening we decided we needed to do an early bedtime, for everyone's sake. We did stories and scriptures and had lights out by 7:30. The boys had ended up losing some of their 'lovies' and weren't too happy about it, but we told them they needed to stay in their beds and go to sleep.
I had a few Relief Society appointments that evening, but had to wait until some people got home before I could go. K and I decided to go down and watch a movie together until I got some texts telling me people were home. He picked a nice loud guy movie and I grabbed a small flashlight and a book and we snuggled down on the couch together. We were 35-40 minutes into the movie, at a very loud exploding part when I thought 'Someone is screaming.' I put down my book and ran upstairs as fast as I could. I don't remember even saying anything but K started up after me and as we reached the top of the stairs I could hear that someone in the boys room really was screaming.
I opened the door and as my eyes adjusted to the darkness I looked up at the top bunk to try and figure out why G was screaming and I could only see his head. He had somehow slipped between the bunkbed and the wall and was hanging by his chin with his body dangling down. I started pulling on the bunkbed to loosen it from the wall when K came in behind me and gave the whole thing one huge yank and pulled the bed away from the wall. G dropped down and started gasping in relief.
I quickly pulled him to me asking if he was ok. H was sitting up in the bottom bunk confused and scared. G quickly calmed down and I was amazed by his ability to process everything. He said, "I'm so glad you heard my scream and that I had a prayer in my head and my heart. I'm so glad I didn't die, cause I tried to pull myself up but I couldn't."
I asked him how it had happened and he said he was confused about where he was and accidentally fell. I think he was trying to get off the bed and just picked the wrong side. How he slipped his whole body in a 2 1/2 in gap, I have no idea. He wasn't choking, but was hanging by his hands and chin and was understandibly freaked out. He said it hadn't been long, and H said he had just woken up to the screaming that he thought was a monster.
We had a family prayer thanking Heavenly Father for helping G to know to scream and for helping Mom hear him. We were thankful that Dad is strong and could move the bed. When we were done G sighed and said, "This was the best day ever." then climbed back into bed and fell asleep. I am so impressed with how well he feels the Spirit. He was comforted and felt happy that everything ended so well. He absolutely amazes me. Heavenly Father really blessed us today. I'm not sure we deserved it after all the contention we had, but I'm grateful for it anyway.
