Road Trip

My little sister Mary was in an Opera down in Cedar City. 'The Magic Flute' to be exact. I have never been able the attend any of her productions before so when my sisters started talking about carpooling down I thought this was as good a time as any. We started out about 2 in the afternoon and I drove down to Pleasant Grove to meet up with Lyane and Rachel. We dropped off some kids there and put others in the van and drove down to Payson to Lisa's. There we picked up Lisa and dropped of the rest of the kids. After a quick hello to my hubby the four of us piled in Nay's van and she drove us to Cedar City. It was a really fun time for me. I really enjoy being with my sisters and when you're in a van on a road that's not really known for its scenery (especially if you've already seen it a million and one times) you can't help but talk. When we get together as a family there are often so many interruptions with kids, and husbands and other things that anything other than snippets of conversations isn't possible. So being 'stuck' in a van for four hours each way was really quite enjoyable for me. Here are all of us (Diane met up with us at the theatre) in our seats waiting for the show to begin.
Here is the reason for the trip...Mary, getting her "Congratulations! Good Job!" flowers.
A quick visit and a quick picture with the whole family before we headed back on the road. My overall opinion of the Opera was that Mary was Highly under-used, but I might be a little biased. There were some very funny parts and there were some parts I didn't get. There were also some parts that seemed very long, but that could have been compounded by the fact that we were crazy enough to try to squeeze it all into one day and knew we had a long drive ahead of us.
When we left we were singing and laughing and we all stayed awake the whole drive home. I'm definitely starting to feel old though. By the time I walked in my door it was after 3 am and I still had to feed the baby before I could go to bed. Then we got up then next morning and headed back down to Pleasant Grove for my niece's baptism. I pretty much had a lack of sleep hangover the rest of the weekend. But It was toatlly worth it to see how happy Mary was when we all came to see her in the Opera.

Playing Around

G sure likes to play with all the pillows on my bed. H is just starting to get in on all the fun.

Q is for

Q is for quiz show, q-tip painting, quilts and quills. Really Quite extraordinary considering there aren't many Q words. Oh and quiche, quesadillas and Q shaped donuts to eat of course. Kage showing off the quiz show set up.
Q-tip painting was apparently a big hit.
G with all his Q loot. I thought the Quill was Quite creative :)

Stats

Last week we had G's 3 year old well visit and H's 6 month well visit...both of them a month late :) Here are some of their stats:G is 29 lb. 36 in
He got his first vision and hearing tests. During the vision test he was doing awesome and identifying all the letters on the chart. Then he broke the little paddle they cover your eye with and refused to do the other eye.
He refused to do the hearing test until I bribed him with a lollipop.
He didn't get the lollipop until after his shots (one in each leg, poor thing). He still talks about how he got poked and cried.
I just thought this was a fabulous picture.
H is 16 lbs and 27 in
He made our pediatrician very happy with all his smiles.
He impressed her with his wide range of babbles, shrieks and noises.
He also got poked and did not like it one bit. He was a little easier to calm down than G though.

Graham Crackers

I have not been very good about recording a lot of H's mile-stones. Recently we started solid foods with him. He really doesn't seem that interested in most things. He likes a bite or two but then he's done. We did find one food that he loves to eat. I think he does pretty well with them too.

Too Busy

Today at lunch, H threw his cup on the floor. I asked G if he would pick it up since it landed by his chair.

He said, "Naw, I'm to busy."

Me, "Oh really. What are you doing?"

"I'm talking to Kyle."

He then proceeded to blow bubbles in his chocolate milk.
Kyle wasn't even in the room.

A day in the life...

Here is a random bit of video. Just a snippet of our day.

Playing with Cars

Here is a video of G playing with his cars.

Cute

This is G's friend Chinnie. The Other day she and her mom were over and I was commenting on her beautiful curly hair (Isn't it just adorable!). G walks over to us and says, "Yeah, it kinda looks like slinky's."

Also, he as been really cuddly as of late. I've been introducing him to some disney movies other than cars...like Aladdin, Peter Pan and Little Mermaid. He calls Little Mermaid "Wormaid". Anyway, as we've been watching these shows he likes to come cuddle with me and share a blanket. Sometimes during the movie he'll turn around take my face in his hands and just give me the sweetest smile and sometimes a kiss. This is very out of charachter for him...he's never been a cuddly kind of kid. But I sure am enjoying it :).

Ironic

It is 12:30 AM. I just BARELY got H to fall asleep. Guess who just came walking out of his bedroom wide awake because he fell asleep at 5 PM?

That's right, it comes right before H. Fun night for me.

Letter O

I'm so bummed because all the pictures I took for the letter O pretty much turned out crappy. The preschool itself was great though! The kids were all really involved and seemed to be enjoying themselves. We Opened Objects that had O-word Ovals inside. Sang some silly O songs and did multiple O crafts like a paper bag Owl and O-s out of Oatmeal and Cheerio's. For snace we had Oreo's, Orange slices and little Oceans I made out of blue jello (which is kind of hard to find!) and gummy fish. Nobody was very cooperative for pictures though :(. Oh Well!

Testing

Last year at G's 2yr-old Dr appt my pediatrician detected a small heart murmur. She told me it could be attributed completely to growing since she hadn't detected one before but that just to be on the safe side I should take him in to get some testing done. She wrote me out an order and said, "Just sometime before his next appointment." That was on 12/5/2007. We just took him in Monday. Now don't think I'm a bad mom...when she told me this I was pregnant and she did play it down a lot like it wasn't a huge deal and not to freak out about it. So I didn't. I just procrastinated it...a lot. It just seemed so out of my comfort zone and I just didn't want to deal with it. Then we had the baby, it was the holidays, etc etc.

Fast forward to now. I finally decided that it just HAD to be done. G's 3 year appt had been delayed by a month and a half because of our job/insurance situation and I was running out of time. K has been working out of town and is usually only home on weekends. When he was unexpectedly home last Monday, I decided I should try and make it happen so I wouldn't have to do it alone with both boys. It turns out it wasn't as bad as I thought it would be (isn't that always the case).

Everyone at Primary Children's was very nice. We were seen very quickly and G thought it was a cool adventure.
Here is G getting the 'cool stickers' on his chest for an EKG.

Showing off his super strong muscles while holding still for the test to run. After it was over and the stickers were removed he kept saying how he looked like a 'skeleton'. His brain absolutely amazes me.

Yep, theres some results on there...don't know what they mean, but they're there.

He also got a chest x-ray.

After the EKG and X-ray were both over he was given a gold coin for being so good and got to put the coin in the prize machine. He was pretty thrilled to get a little plastic crab and a black bead bracelet. K was like, "Didn't you show him the aliens and balls? Why did he pick the bracelet?" What can I say, it was at eye level and it looked cool.

All in all it was a very positive experience. It was nice to get something crossed off my list that has been at the back of my mind for over a year. Oh! By the way, our Pediatrician left a message on my phone today that said all the tests look normal! One less thing to worry about :)

M and N

I'm a little behind on posting about G's preschool. A couple of times we have gotten home from preschool and instead of a happy moment taking pictures we end up with a tantrum and time out or meltdown for some other reason. So I decided to combine my M and N pictures.

Both the mom's that do preschool with me are just fabulous and are so creative. Most of the pictures I owe to them as well.
M is for Masks, money and marshmallows. N is for Nifty noodle necklaces numbered to nineteen, noisemakers, necklace and night sky.

Netting N words from the tub.

Mr G

The Three Mask-atiers? I find it so interesting that G never removed his coat or his boots (which are on the wrong feet) the entire time.

Christmas through the lens...

I know this is a lot of video, but the boys were just so darn cute...plus, all the clips are really short :). Besides, this kind of stuff is mainly for my in-laws who I know will enjoy it. Don't feel obligated to watch them all, by any means.

1st Day

G became a Sunbeam today. I had the opportunity to last minute sub for the CTR 7/8 primary class so I got to observe his first experience of Singing Time and Sharing Time. He really did pretty good at first, nothing more than the normal 3 year old: Turn backwards in your chair, bug the kid next to you until you start hitting each other, sing 'Santa Clause is Coming to Town' loudly no matter what primary song they are singing, smile, laugh and raise your hand even if you didn't know they asked a question....you know, the normal stuff.

The kicker came during closing exercises. The Bishop came in to make some remarks and G stood up right in front of him. He proceeded to repeat almost everything the Bishop said as he was talking. Bishop was very patient with him and finally got him to sit down again.

As soon as the Bishop sat down and it was quiet, G stood up again and turned to face the primary with his arms folded.

He said: "Hello Boys and Girls. Welcome to Primary. Do you like my tie?"

Almost the same introduction the Bishop had said a few minutes earlier. One of the primary leaders laughed so hard she was crying.
